Brief biography of Maulana Abdul Jalil Ragibi
The person who is one of the unique gift of Almighty, a pathmaker of our society, an intellectual, a religious guru, a teacher, a philosopher, a journalist, a great thinker, a politician and above all one of the best Literate of multilingual acquaintance of Assam who is Maulana Abdul Jalil Ragibi.
He was born in 1936 in Shahpur Village under Murajhar P.S in a family of Religious Faith who’s father was Mubarak Ali Khan and Mother was Formuja Bibi Sahiba.
Abdul Jalil started his Dini Islamic Education from Shahpur Muktab under Islamic teacher Moulana Mosaddar Ali Ragibi Sahab and Abdul Jalil was greatly influenced by his teacher and had kept his name as Ragibi and then Abdul Jali became Abdul Jalil Ragibi. At an early age of 14 yrs in 1950 he went to Asia’s Largest Islamic Institute “Darul Ulom Deybond” for higher education and graduated from there.
He had started his life in service in Jamiat Ulamaiye Hindi and taught in Hojai Jalaliya Madrasa, Nonoi Sankardev High School and Prestigious Joynagar Madrasa where until his demise he acted as Principal of Joynagar Madrasa. He also served for some time as Director of ASCARD Bank, Govt. of Assam.
As a politician he elected in Assam Assembly for two times in 1986 from UMF and in 1991 from Indian National Congress and known to give large number of employments with honesty and provincialized many schools and institutions.
In literary field, his contribution was enormous. He was a writer, poet and a great translator. He had written many as 20 books in Assamese, Urdu and Bangla and translated many from Arabic and other literature. Some prominent writings are “Sompa Bonor Kobita”, “Islamor Dristit Manav Santan”, ‟Islamor Dristith Bibhah Bandhan”, “Choritra Chitrankanot Islam”, ‘Aaboron”, “Obotoronika”, ‘Hirar Aaluk Bisari” etc.
In the field of Journalism he is the founder and edited many periodical and newspaper. His thrust for Journalism was since his student life. He was the Founder Editor of Wall Magazine “Al-Azahar” in Deuband Madrasa. He too founder editor of “Milon (1981)”, “Jan Jagaron (1991)”, “Xadiniya Jamiyat (1986)” and before it was “Al-Jamiyat” and now till Xadiniya Jamiyat is publishing from Hojai under Chief Editor Moulana Abdul Kadir Sahab and Associate Editor Mostak Choudhury.
5th December, 2016, Monday at Night 8.30 pm he left us creating a huge vacuum in all around in the field of Literature, Politics, Islamic Education and in Jamiyat. “Inna-Lilla Hi-Wa-Inna Lillahir-Raji-un” and in next day at 2 Pm at Nilbigan Playground in presence of thousands of his fans and followers Janaza was perform and Imam was Hazrat Moulana Yeahya Sahab.
Brief biography of Rahim Uddin Sahab
The person who was very close to First Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and one of the sincere Congress persons and Active member of Freedom India Movement. He was one of the pillar for bond in unity between Hindu-Muslim and under his leadership peace prevailed in Hojai during 1950s “Xamprodayik Xongorgho” and during 1960s “Madhyam Andulon”.
He is the great leader, thinker, philosopher of Hojai Morhum Rahim Uddin Ahmed Sahab.
Rahim Uddin Sahab was born in 1908 at Roha in Nagaon district and his father was Boyotulla Sahab. During his childhood his father was expired and his widow mother with extreme hard work and dedication educated him upto Matriculation. After then, he involved in Business in Lumding and involved in various social activities and became very popular in no time. He actively involved in politics and was elected President of Congress in Lumding Constituency, then became chairperson of Hojai Municipality and established various institutions and organizations. He was the Founder President of Hojai Sahitya Saba, President of Hojai College Governing Body and was one of person behind establishment Hojai Government Hospital. Besides, these he was a great writer, poet and associated with literary works of Sahitya Saba.
As an honest politician he was elected to Assam Legislative assembly and became the second MLA from Jamunamukh Constituency in 1957 after Bimola Borua from Congress party. Again he re-elected for second time as an Independent candidate in 1967.
On 22th October, 1974 he left the earth leaving his works, memories, his 5 sons and one daughter.
Brief biography of Muzammil Ali Chowdhury- Former MLA of Jamunamukh Constituency
A dedicated social activist, a teacher, a politician, a leader whose contribution for development of our society was mammoth and dedicated his whole life for society. He is dynamic personality of our Doboka, former MLA of Jamunamukh constituency Muzammil Ali Chowdhury .
Muzammil Ali Chowdhury was born on 17 August, 1927 in Baliram village of Hailakandi district of Assam and he father was Mahabbat Ali and mother Alekjan Begum.
He was a meritorious student since his childhood. He did his matriculation from Abdul Hasib High School, Hojai and I.A (H.S) form S.S College, Hailakandi. He also did F.M from Hailakandi Senior Madrasa.
At young age he got influenced by Hazrat Bakhor Shah peer sahab of Madhurbond, Silchar and entered his Theosphical society and later he detached from there and migrated to the Brahmaputra Valley and started living at Doboka, Nikharimukh and started as a teacher as profession. He served as teacher in many institutions, namely; Dawson Higher Secondary School, Nagaon , Doboka Bangla Vidya Niketan, Dagaon H.S School, and Jungle Block ME School.
He was highly moved by the suppression of poor people, workers and peasants. He joined Socialist movement under the famous leaders like Jay Prakash Narayan, Acharya J.B Kripalani, Gouri Shankar Bhattacharya, etc. He led a procession, “The pad-yatra” from Doboka to Shillong which was organized for the fulfillment of rights of toiling people under the slogan “Nangol jaar Mati taar”. He stopped undue taxes levied by the mahaldars on livestocks in weekly markets. Once he organized a rally in front of West Bengal Bidhan Sabha to draw attention of the people of India about the atrocities on minority Hindus and Muslims on different issues.
Later he joined politics and become the MLA of Jamunamukh LAC in 1978 by defeating Master Forman Ali and become parliamentary secretary with the charge of state ministry of agriculture. Later he become chairman of Assam Seed Corporation under Golap Borbora Janata ministry.
He was a great thinker and a writer. He wrote five/six books, namely; Pranor Uki, Shantimoy Ek Prithvi Shristi Korok, Maszid Committee ki Chai, and Nek Haw-Ek Haw.
He breathed his last on 30th September, 2017 at his residence Gastola (Doboka). His contributions and works towards the society are unforgettable. He will always be remembered and will remain in our hearts.
